Monday 27th March ? walk **** Orwell Country Park nr. Ipswich - sunny periods.

We had dentist appointments at 8.30 this morning which then left us free to enjoy the lovely sunny Spring weather although a tad on the chilly side first thing with a little ice on the van windscreen! Had time to do our exercises before I packed a picnic and we drove to one of our favourites, Orwell Country Park near Ipswich arriving at 11.15. We took our usual route through the woods, the forest floor now covered in green bluebells, the flowers are still probably a month away and the tall trees look wonderful set against a blue sky, we were out of the breeze too making it feel nice and warm spotting a couple of woodpeckers but no deer today:( It was fairly quiet today with just the odd dog walker and we continued along the foreshore of the River Orwell where we found a picnic spot opposite Stoke Sailing club with the impressive tower looking great too:) We had a relaxing lunch with stunning views across the river with the huge Orwell Bridge to our right with a few boats now out on the water. We then carry on up past the small holding, now boasting several black lambs but sadly no pigs. Under the bridge and back to the van, the noisy part of the walk with traffic from the near-by A 14. We then take the country lane route through Levington home including a quick trip to the marina to see if the towel I left in the shower was still there, sadly not. And home for a welcome cuppa and the last of my homemade cake, will have to make some more!
